5 marketing tips for a small budget

Most small businesses share a common issue when it comes to marketing: a lack of money. Without enough money, it can be difficult to take advantage of the best marketing strategies. Every company goes through this phase at some point.

Here are five marketing tips that work if you have a small budget.

  1. Sponsor a community event, team or charity
Provide in-kind products or services, but remember to think about how and where your target market spends their time.
Give away balloons, sponsor face painting, contribute to swag bags
  1. Cross-promote
Collaborate with like-minded business owners and pool your resources.
Cross promote on social media, store level, websites and even print or radio advertising.
  1. Network
Get out there, shake some hands, build relationships.
  1. Volunteer to speak
Talk to your local Chamber of Commerce and business groups about giving a speech, position yourself as an expert in your field.
  1. Create a story
Think about newsworthy story angles that would appeal to your local newspaper’s readers and then write a press release.
Write articles and submit them to the newspaper.

No matter the size of your budget there are creative ways to get your brand story out there.  If you would like some help please don’t hesitate to contact me at www.themarketingstation.ca for a free consultation..
