My Origin Story
Hi there! I’m a solopreneur proudly based in Carleton Place, where I live with my husband and our two adorable (and slightly spoiled) furbabies. While I’m originally from Ottawa, I’ve called CP home for the past 18 years, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’m an active member of my community — you’ll find me serving as a director on the board of the Carleton Place & District Chamber of Commerce and connecting with like-minded professionals in the Kanata Business Connections group. I’m incredibly proud to have been nominated in the Solopreneur category at the Chamber’s annual awards gala, and even more excited that The Marketing Station recently won the Canadian Choice Award 2025 for Digital Marketing Agencies in Carleton Place. Oh, and I even made the cover of Carleton Place Living magazine’s February issue — proudly featured as one of the ‘Ladies of the Keyboard.’ (I promise I haven’t let the fame go to my head… yet.)
My Marketing Journey
Marketing has been my world for over 25 years, but the highlight? Fourteen incredible years with the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club in their marketing department. It was a front-row seat to big-league branding, community engagement, and the fast-paced world of professional sports. But as much as I loved the energy of the NHL, I knew I wanted to build something of my own—something that made a direct impact on the businesses and people I cared about.
Taking the Leap
Leaving the structure and prestige of a well-established brand to start my own business? Terrifying. Suddenly, I wasn’t just doing marketing—I was running a business, juggling finances, and figuring out how to make a name for myself without an NHL logo backing me up. There were moments of doubt (and probably more than a few stress-induced coffee binges), but I was determined to make it work.
The Breakthrough Moment
That’s when I realized my biggest asset wasn’t just my marketing experience—it was my community. Living in Carleton Place for 7 years, I had built deep connections with local business owners who, like me, wanted to grow but didn’t have time to learn social media algorithms or marketing trends. I wasn’t just another marketer; I was someone who understood the unique needs of small-town businesses.
I created CP Social Scene, one of the area’s most active Facebook groups for community engagement. Seeing firsthand what made people stop scrolling, interact, and share local content gave me invaluable insights into what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to connecting businesses with their audience.
What I Do Now
Today, through The Marketing Station, I help small to medium-sized businesses in Carleton Place and beyond cut through the digital noise and stay top-of-mind with their customers. My goal? Make marketing work for business owners who don’t have the time (or patience) to figure it out themselves.

I had the pleasure of working with Lisa on a major project in 2008, "Operation Sweden" as part of the NHL Global Series with the Ottawa Senators. This project had a lot of moving parts, including but not limited to: Roughly 500k in budget management, product development, product launch, product marketing, onsite client management in Stockholm and more. As you can imagine, when you are the "official" tour of an NHL team, the responsibilities and pressure are elevated because the project involves the ownership group, sponsors, suite owners and season ticket holders. I have personally since managed 3 more official global series tours with Edmonton, Tampa Bay and Ottawa again and Lisa provided support, creativity and marketing ideas at a level at the top of her profession. Since then, I now use Lisa for all my travel agency social media marketing. She is punctual, organized, polite and professional. I would not hesitate to use her again in any project management or marketing capacity. Also. her ability to work independently and autonomously elevates my business and allows me time to concentrate on what I do best.
